There is one crucial thing that people should do when choosing a candy bar, taste-test the goods! Some people may like one type of chocolate bar, while some will pick another.

Apart from being one of the best-selling candy bars and one of the oldest candy bars in America, it is also popular in different countries like Germany, Mexico, Canada, Australia, South Korea, China, Brazil, Switzerland, and Indonesia.

The name “Kit Kat” is derived from the traditional nursery rhyme called “Kitty Kat.” In 1970, the Hershey Company bought the rights to distribute the chocolate in America, and has been very popular since then.

Mr. Mars Wrigley created the 3 Musketeers bar in 1932, which was a combination of chocolate, marshmallow, and whipped cream. The name comes from Alexandre Dumas’ 1844 novel “The Three Musketeers” using the names of the characters to describe its different layers such as du(two) layer, musk(marshmallow), and terer(tart). There were three variations at the time: milk chocolate and dark chocolate. After World War Two, there was a ration on chocolate, so they changed their ingredients to use nougat instead of their original creamy filling while keeping the same crispy puffed texture, which increased sales.

Mr. H.B. Reese created this candy in 1928, which was made with peanut butter and chocolate mixed together to create its sweet flavor. He started his business by borrowing $0.50 from his neighbor Mr. Hershey to buy chocolate, nuts, and candy to make this candy. Mr. Hershey’s son helped him create the cups by wrapping them in foil after they were made using two round molds filled with milk chocolate and peanut butter centers. He sold his peanut butter cup candy for five cents each because he wanted them to be affordable so everyone could enjoy them. This candy is still sold by Hershey today, only now it has different variations like Reese’s Pieces and Reese’s Fast Break.

The Twix Cookie bar was created in 1967 by Mars in the UK, and it was first introduced in the United States in 1979. Mr. Fox, who worked for Mars in Britain, made this cookie because he considered that they needed a quick snack and did not have much time to make it. He was inspired by his mother’s tea biscuits which were crunchy and sweet, so he created this new cookie using two biscuit wafers like his mother’s cookies, sandwiched together with either caramel or creme filling. Later on, they decided to add chocolate to make it a candy bar and to give it a crunchy texture of chocolate on the outside.

This candy bar is very similar to Twix, but it has a chocolate base instead of having a cookie-like bottom. They are chewy caramel bars with crispy wafers, but instead of using milk chocolate like Twix, they use dark chocolate for 100 Grand. Martoccio Macaroni Company in Chicago, Illinois, had initially brought this candy bar to the market in 1939. Its name came from the idea that if you were to pay off your debts with a happy face, it would reward you by giving you one of these tasty candies!
